Curly Mesquite is a native, warm season grass that is drought resistant, when the plant dries out and becomes dormant the leaves curl up giving this plant its name. I fell in love with the way this plant looks and the many variations on the curly leaves. This native grass has ecological value, providing food, shelter and protection for songbirds and beneficial insects. In addition to looking good, curly mesquite has deep roots and increases the fertility of the soil.
Curly Mesquite Cyanotype
This cyanotype was created on cotton sateen and is a framed piece ready to hang. This horizontal piece is 8 inches wide by 10 inches high. Like any fine art, cyanotypes are sensitive to direct sunlight so you'll need to hang it where the sun doesn't shine on it. It's kind of ironic because sun shining on it is what creates the image in the first place.
