Seeing these three buffalo in the pasture reminded me of the importance of the Goodnight Bison Herd. It is one of the earliest herds of domesticated buffalo and one of the oldest, located on the Palo Duro Ranch on Red River, near Goodnight, Texas. The nucleus was comprised a few abandoned calves captured near the ranch at the insistence of Mrs. Goodnight. This herd represents the great Southern herd of wild buffalo which formerly roamed over the plains of Texas.

  • This cyanotype was created on cotton fabric and is framed, ready to hang. This horizontal piece is 15 inches wide by 17 inches high. Like any fine art, cyanotypes are sensitive to direct sunlight so you'll need to hang it where the sun doesn't shine on it. It's kind of ironic because sun shining on it is what creates the image in the first place.
